About this Safari Package
If you are looking for a safari that goes beyond the traditional Maasai Mara experience, a Samburu National Reserve package from Nairobi is one of the best adventures in Kenya. Located in the country’s northern frontier, Samburu National Reserve offers breathtaking landscapes, unique wildlife found nowhere else in Kenya, fewer crowds, and an authentic cultural experience with the Samburu people.
Whether you are a solo traveler, couple, family, photographer, or corporate group, a safari to Samburu promises unforgettable wildlife encounters along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.
Why Choose a Samburu National Reserve Package?
Unlike many parks in southern Kenya, Samburu has a semi-arid ecosystem characterized by acacia woodlands, rocky hills, riverine forests, and open savannah. This unique habitat supports rare wildlife species collectively known as the Samburu Special Five:
- Grevy’s Zebra
- Reticulated Giraffe
- Somali Ostrich
- Gerenuk
- Beisa Oryx
Besides these rare species, visitors regularly spot:
- African elephants
- Lions
- Leopards
- Cheetahs
- Buffaloes
- Crocodiles
- Hippos
- More than 450 bird species
The reserve covers approximately 165 square kilometres and lies about 320–350 km north of Nairobi, making it an excellent destination for a 3 to 5-day safari.
